Trying to root out an electrical gremlin. Back in April, I lost power to the injection pump solenoid, also noticed mice had damaged the insulation on that wire, conductor is fine, checked continuity. With the multi-meter in the circuit, when I turn the key, all the way, I heard the solenoid click and the meter shows voltage, but then stops. From the key switch, in the run position, it should show voltage all the time. I can hear it click, but it won't start unless I jump the solenoid from the battery.

I suspect the key switch at this point, make any sense ? It was a new one from the dealer when I first got it 2 years ago. I've looked over the harness completely using a mirror in tight places, all wiring looks fine. Mice had a nest behind the instrument cluster more than once, but only clipped the insulation on the brown/yellow wire with the Lucas male-female connector.

I don't know this to be fact or not, but I would look in the fuse box for a relay that controls the solenoid? It is quite possible given that they also use a relay to control the starter circuit on those tractors. The way it is behaving is synonomous with a relay kicking out.

I see what looks like 2 relays in the fuse box, one tan, one black, with the ford scripted logo and a part number on each. There is room for more on that side of the fuse block, cab models seem to have more relays. I found an electrical diagram, part 14 model derivatives, for a 3930, which shows a fuel relay behind the dash cluster in the one line diagram after the fuse block, before the fuel solenoid. Maybe it's in the fuse block on this one, can't seem to find them elsehwere. I see in the CNH parts listing relays, one for the ignition accessory. Can the relays be tested ?

Dealer probably has the correct wiring diagram for this one and is very helpful on that end. Service manager will help a customer with repair advice and has been around since the 3 cylinder tractors like this one was new.

We fought the same problem with one for over year, I finally wired a light to the pump solenoid wire to see if was the solenoid or was it loosing power. To make a long long story short it was a bad ground to the solenoid located on the back of the case where the solenoid is located.
