I had one come through the back window of my truck once.
I was in the truck being towed out of a muddy field, loaded with firewood.

Point was, and I believe yours as well, they will snap.
When they do, they are remarkably like a broken rubber band.
I wasn't even the guy doing the jerking on the chain.
Kind of an innocent by-sitter. :)

That was an aggressive use of tractor there. Lots could have gone wrong.

Just using a tractor hard like they were made for. Kept enough stump up high for leverage and got the job done.
