192 D starter issues

This layout has worked good for 30 years. In recent years, Can only get 3 months out of a starter drive before it begins to hang up. Take the starter out, wipe the drive off (it's never really dirty) and it works fine for a couple weeks. It is a power unit with a Rockford clutch. Just wondering if anyone had any ideas about this, the drives used to last until starter overhaul, about every 4-5 years. Thanks, Fritz

Check the teeth on the flywheel ring gear. If they are messed up and ruff etc that can/will cause that type of problem

Starter drives aren't what they used to be. Sad.
