1966 4000 Input Shaft Seal? While engine is out.

Hi Guys, I'm getting closer to putting the engine back into my 4000, (new block and rebuild) and wanted to make sure I do any preventative maintenance I can while it's split in half. It has the 8 speed transmission.

I tried to find a part number for the input shaft seal but haven't found anything, has to be one in there? Anything else you would recommend doing? The tractor was non-running when I bought it, so who knows what other surprises will come up.

Thanks!

Looked up in Messick's

Input shaft seal
957E727A crosses to 81717245 $7.33
PTO seal
D9NNC729BA crosses to 83924923 $8.21
Retainer gasket
81804648 $4.60
Your local NH dealer should honor these prices.

You should replace both seals and you have to remove the retainer that the throw out bearing rides on to do that.
PTO seal is inside the retainer
input shaft seal is inside the pto shaft
the retainer gasket may tear when you remove it so it's best to have that gasket just in case.
