blown fuse and low range

I have a tw 15 with fwa I was hauling silage the other day and suddenly the tractor dropped into low range on the dual power and the indicator light went out. I found the fuse blown and replaced it and it worked fine for about an hour then blew the fuse again and was in low range again. Now it blows the fuse instantly. The way I understand it, the solenoid does not shift into low range unless there is power supplied to it so why would I drop into low range when the fuse is blown? Has anyone else had this issue?

No voltage = low range, 12 volts = high range. This explains why it drops into low when the fuse blows.

You most likely have a shorted DP solenoid coil, although it could be external wiring issues as well. I would disconnect the wire going into the transmission to see if it still blows a fuse. That would be a great way to isolate your problem.

OK thank you, I was mislead then. I was told that there was no power to the solenoid until you stepped the pedal down to use the low range.]
