4000 4 cylinder serial numbers

Hard to say for sure, as they actually continued to make models of the 4 cylinder thousand series after they started production on the 3 cylinder models. They made them for special orders for fleet purchasers for quite a while. The 2000 offset was the one that they made for the longest period after the 3 cylinder models came out.

They built the 4 cylinder series well into 1965. By what records we have left after the fire of the Ford record keeping building it was Sept of 1965. The first tractor built in Sept 1965 was 71050. They were building about 800 tractors a month at the time so that would put the last one built about 71850 give or take a few. There has been discussions on this forum that backs that number up by people posting the highest serial number they have seen in person.

Since the 2000 4000 2000 offset all carried the same line of serial numbers there is no way for us to say how many of each was built or what was the last date for each.

If you find a tractor that is stamped 2000 or 4000 with a serial number that has 6 numbers such as 130500 it is industrial model that was built from late 1960 to July of 1962 and carried the X01 series serial numbers.

So while most think the 2000 4000 was built from 1962 to 1964 it was really built from late 1960 to at least Sept 1965 in one form or another.
