Ford 5000 steering question

Well I've got the tractor completed and have done some bush hogging everything works great. The power steering works great but it is pouring fluid from the weep hole the cylinder has been rebuilt but I'm guessing the control valve spool must be worn out.

So I'm wondering what are you guys doing when the cylinder on the front is no good you can't get nothing but a rebuild kit orings you can't get the cylinder or the spool valve are you replacing with some type of aftermarket power steering if so I'm guessing you leave the front cylinder on there I'm just curious to what my options are. I thought about trying to make a spool valve I think the tolerance is like one and a half thousand. Thanks for any and all input

That is a good system if you can get them to stop leaking. The "sliding" valve on the top is sealed by 'O' rings on both ends. The one that usually
leaks is an odd size ($15 from Ford IIRC) and is in a "spring sandwich". Here is the trick; If you remove and throw out the sheet metal fan belt
shield on the left side of the engine, you can R&R the valve for service just by moving the fan belt out of the way reasonably easy. All the rings are
on the valve.

I agree with it being a good system. The only leak I have is at the weep hole. It does have a o-ring on the far end of the spool and I was thinking the valve has so much play that the O-ring can't hold back the pressure that's leaking by.the spool.
