Ford 4000 several questions

I am trying to figure out a few things on the Ford 4000 tractor that I bought a few weeks ago. The first thing I want to figure out is the correct model so I can try to find the correct manual in order to work on this myself and also hopefully have to ask less questions here in order to minimize bugging people.
From what I can see, it looks to be a 1964 model. I found the following but cannot figure out how to decode.
Next to the starter: 1202 first row, 26418 second row
On the distributor side: 310609
Does this help figure out enough to order a manual?

Also, I found success setting up the clutch to work as a two stage clutch. I finally got the PTO to stop after adjusting the clutch. The problem now is that the clutch sits around 1:00 that I have to really put my leg back to get my foot on the clutch. I noticed that the clutch pedal has a clip on it that looks as if I should be able to take it off (possibly a spline) and move it to about 11:00 position to make it easier to use. Has anyone done this? I assume I would have to readjust the end of the clutch as the distance would be changed.

The last thing i noticed is that the distributor shaft that goes into the engine is loose enough that I can turn it by hand. Shouldn't there be some type of lock down to prevent it from turning? I remember my 73 Mustang distributor had some type of piece to lock it down.

The good news is this tractor starts on the first touch of the button with hardly any choke. Looking forward to using it this summer.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I think you're missing a digit. 41202 would be a 4000 for the '63 - 64 era. It would have the 2 stage clutch, a 5 speed and a live PTO.

There should be a clip with a bolt in it to tighten the distributor down to the engine.

Part of the clutch linkage would have a set point to drop the clutch pedal to a lower height when not doing PTO work. Otherwise it will be obnoxiously high.

The Ford shop manual for 1955 - 1960 hundred series also applies to your tractor. Had it been a Select-O-Speed you would have needed a later supplement, but since it's not all you need is the aforesaid manual.

If it is a 41202 model number as Larry thinks (and I'm reasonably sure of as well), then 24618 would be the serial number, which would make it a 1963 tractor.

Interesting thing is the number on the right side of the engine, 310609, should be from an earlier 1958-1958 801 series tractor. So depending on what the date codes on the resto of it are, it may have started life as an 801 and had the transmission replaced bu one from a 1963 4000, or it may be a 4000 that has had the engine replaced with an earlier one.

The 801 series had an "egg crate" grill and a round medallion over top of the grill, while the 4000 had vertical slats for the grill and an "eyebrow" above the grill instead of a round medallion, and the 4000 also originally had the letters "F O R D" spelled out vertically, top-to-bottom down the middle of the grill. So depending on which grill and sheet metal it has, that's what I would call it.

Regardless, the 801 and 4 cylinder 4000 are basically the same tractor with the 4000 having some minor improvements and different sheet metal so the same service manuals would apply. In addition to the 1955-1964 Ford factory service manual, the I&T FO-20 is an aftermarket service manual that also covers the 1955-1964 Ford tractors.
