I just got a tractor from my cousin that has been sitting for 5 years. About 6 years ago we were at the farm and some of the kids had been playing on the tractor and engaged the pto and raised the 3-point hitch all the way up. We did not realize this and started the tractor (it was hooked up to a bush-hog), so as the tractor struggled to start my cousin gave it full power and the motor rpm when high very fast. As this happened the bush-hog (running) raised up fast and when it got to he highest point, it just stopped. I did not hear a thump or grinding it just stopped and lowered. That was the last time it worked. I have never messed with the internal working of pto or hydraulics, so my question is...does anyone have pictures of the internal pto/hydraulics area or any ideas as to what broke? I will be at work tonight and leaving for a camping trip tomorrow so please feel free to give me any ideas or advice and I will respond next week when I get home. Thank you in advance for the help!

The PTO and 3 point hydraulics are completely separate from one another on that tractor, so if neither are working then there are at least two things wrong.

Here is a link to the parts drawings for that tractor. The drawings for the various components of the 3 point lift system are in the hydraulics section and the PTO drawings are in the transmission section. A 300 could have a transmission driven (non-live) PTO, or a live PTO or if it has the Select-O-Speed transmission it would have independent PTO. The drawings for all 3 types are in there.
