600 generator

My 600 has a 6 volt generator that has started rattling
and knocking a bit. Could it be a bearing of sort or maybe
something else. Any suggestions appreciated.

Take it off and head to town to your trusty, local starter/alternator shop guy. It is there where he has all the right test equipment to check it out properly, under load, and tell you what's wrong. Then a simple rebuild would fix it, and no need to do a 12-volt convulsion. That's my advice/opinion, but, if you do choose to do a 12-volt flip, I'd be interested in your old original 6-volt generator.

A loose bearing will cause the armature to rub against the pole shoes. It will ruin the armature in short order.

Just thought I would give update. Took generator off
and the big nut holding the pulley was loose. Still
interested in another 6 volt generator though as this
one is original and I have been into it since I've
owned it 30 yrs now.
