Weather Stored 600

There is a 600 series for sale that has been stored outside for at least 2 years. I don't know how long before that though since I seen it.

I am interested in looking at it to see if it runs, and the mechanical's of it. What would be best to do before turning it over sitting that long out in the open. One would think that the sumps would be full of water. Or water in the crankcase? I wouldn't want to wreck it if the motor, trans, and differential are still decent.

Many tractor sit out side and have for decades with out any problems but yes it is a good idea to look at the shiftier boot and make sure it is good or yes it could have water in the transmission but even that will not kill it if you run it a bit. Ya I would check the fluids just to make sure it does not have water in the engine oil. Many of my machines sit out side since I have to many to fit in the shed and they are just fine. So do the normal checks and the oil check and you should be good to go. Shoot my 8N was under water in 2015 and it runs just fine after being drained etc.

The only things I would be real concerned
about is the engine oil and antifreeze.
There's a lot of these tractors running
every day with enough water in the
transmission, hyd and rear end oils that
they look like they are running chocolate
milkshakes in them and it doesn't seem to
hurt them.
What you might do before you turn it over
is crawl under it and crack the drain
plugs on all three reservoirs and let the
water dribble out. Sitting that long it
will have settled to the bottom and drain
out first.

when I get tractors in here that have been sitting for a long time the first thing I do is pull all the spark plugs and pour about a shot glass worth of marvel mystery oil down into each cylinder. Crank the engine over by hand if you can a few revolutions. This helps lubricate the cylinder and piston after it's been sitting the oil tends to drain from the grooves in the Pistons.

This helps with initial librication preventing scoring on the first time you try to fire it up. It will also help give you a little better engine compression. Making it a little easier to start for the first time in years.

Fair warning though it will smoke like a son of a gun for a lil while till the mystery oil burns off. Should be a white or light gray smoke... If your getting black smoke that's another problem completely. Also as I said earlier the smoke should stop.
