Marvel Carb Identification

I have a Marvel carb on a 1976 172'' 4 cylinder that is in a 64 2000 tractor. The carb does not have a tag signifying it's model number.
Where there is supposed to be a main adjusting needle on the front bottom of the carburetor bowl, there is a brass valve that has no exterior
adjustment and there is a screw in jet inside feeding the main nozzle. My main concern is identifying potential model numbers. Then, I am
hoping to switch it for an adjustable needle.

Try searching M-S carbs on google. I have come across some charts listing which parts go in the basic casting for each model. The jets, venture, etc. should have numbers on them. Can't say where I saw them, usually a repair shop or parts distributor.

I could not find carb by your Years/ Models references. How ever came across this, Google " ABC562 Main Load Adjustment Needle Assembly ".

I have been looking at things like that, but I am trying to figure out if there is a way to ID the carb in order to choose the correct part.

I know I'll get flack for this, but, NO, it is not possible to identify the carb with the information you have. The carb info as to the jetting/ect was stamped on the long lost tag. However you can make it into the correct carb for your motor. The base castings are universal/ the same for several series of carbs, hence one kit fits several different carb #'s. IMHO you need to start with the motor serial # or chose a kit to fit the 172 motor to obtain the best power/ fuel efficiency. From what I have seen the original carb did not have the adjustable jet. But you can add it to your application for fine tuning. Alma Tractor & Equipment (Ford/Newholland Dealer) may be able to help with more info.
