Tuned up my tractor and timing is off. Turned motor got 8 degree mark lined up. Not real sure what to do to set timing to this. Any help and explanation would be great. Thanks

I don't know if that distributor turns CW
or CCW. Someone here will know and chime in.
Hook a test light or voltmeter on the small
wire that comes from the dist and goes to
the coil.
Loosen the clamp on the distributor so you
can turn it. With the ignition on rotate the
whole distributor forward.
Now turn it slowly backwards untill the test
light comes on or the volt meter reads
voltage. Try it half a dozen times to get
the hang of it - forwards then turn it back
till the light blinks (or meter reads
voltage). When the light blinks stop
immediately and retighten the clamp.
Youll be pretty close at that point and it
should start.
It's not as good as a timing light of
course. Maybe look for an old used one on
ebay or craigslist.
I found an old Craftsman timing light at a
yard sale. It was still in the box and
looked brand new. Paid $5 for it. Handy tool
to own if you have an old tractor.

(quoted from post at 23:12:32 05/07/17) Here's an example of one.
Price is too high for me but probably worth it as it's a good brand and still has instructions. Bet it cost more than that 40 years ago. Gives you an idea anyway.

Thank you so much
