Ford 841 Hydraulic Lift Problems

I have a Ford 841 that the lift stopped working on. I want to give an explanation on what I've done so far (I have an I & T manual on this tractor).
I have pulled out the plug on the pump and made sure the pump works and it does. I have pulled the upper part of the lift off of the tractor to check the linkage adjustment and it is bad out of adjustment, problem is there isn't any more adjustment left. It also looks as if someone has been inside this tractor before and made an adjustment. I read somewhere about checking to see if there is fluid getting up to the plug that is on the top of the upper part of the lift, so I put the top back on to check this and I'm not getting fluid there.
My question is, other than knowing the linkage is out of adjustment, where do I go from here?

That plug is tied directly to the ram cylinder and flow will not be there unless the control valve is in correct 'lift' position AND the unloader valve also moves (hydraulically actuated) to the 'lift' position, in which case the lift will almost always rise.

I checked to see if the fluid was at the plug with the control valve in the "up" position. I'm just wondering if something is stuck somewhere and if it is, what do I need to make sure I replace or check when I start to put all this back correctly?

Will the Hydraulic Lift Cover Repair Kit cover everything when I put this back together?

on't know what is in your "kit". Other than linkage adjustment, the likely culprit is the unloader valve as they are notorious for sticking when left sitting a long time or the 'o' ring deteriorates.

The Tisco kit usually has all the gaskets and O-rings you need for the top cover. That includes the O-ring and backup washer for the lift piston as well as the unloader valve. I usually get the factory piston O-ring, backup washer and unloader valve O-ring from CNH. I just don't like to take a chance. It is difficult to make sure you have the correct unloader valve O-ring from all of the loose O-rings in the kit. And I prefer the CNH backup washer.

You didn't mention the condition of your cam follower pin. If that is badly worn, it can cause the "out of adjustment" condition you described.

I haven't checked the cam follower pin. I will have to do that and see if it's worn any. Is this pin inside the lift top cover?

This was my step-dad's tractor and he passed away a year ago. I'm new when it comes to working on a hydraulic lift.

this photo is of NAA, but as far as cam follower pin location, it is about same as in your 841

Photo of hundred series top cover. Cam follower pin is somewhat below the nut. It rides on the cam that is part of the rock shaft that the lift arms mount to.
