what's it worth?

Guy is building a puller, starting with a 5000 transmission and rear end. He's selling off the parts he doesn't need/want,
including the Dual Power. I don't need it, but it might be nice to have on hand, looking at the hours on my 7000 and 7600. I asked
him what he wanted for the DP, he said make an offer... but I have no idea what it's worth. Any opinions?

You can't really put a fair value on it until you know that the parts subject to wearing beyond their useful life are still serviceable.

True. I'd have to buy it assuming it will need to be rebuilt. Seems like the Fords I've seen built into pullers usually kept the Dual Power. The fact that he's taking it out may be telling...

I would not make an offer but insist that he put a price on it if he wants to sell it.

I would then either buy it or not, depending upon his price.

I bought a used one in need of rebuilding from a salvage yard for something like $700.00, some 12 years ago. I put new seals and bearings in it, mostly from the local store. I didn't replace any plates although they don't cost much from Madison tractor. If I were selling something way out of the ordinary like that, I would not expect to get anything like a salvage yard gets, unless I put the effort into researching the value, which maybe I would not want to do, and then of course I would need to advertise. I would expect to have to sell it on eBay, needing to cast a large net, and we all know the issues involved in that. So you can help the guy get a few hundred dollars of "found money" without much effort, which it appears to me he is looking for. He is building a puller, not running a salvage yard.

I'd be more concerned with clutch baskets and carriers than discs, plates and seals.
