801 diesel no start

I picked up an 801 diesel and was told it ran fine one day and then would not start the next day been sitting a year or so I was told to. they figured the line to the filter was plugged, i cleaned the air cleaner and tried to start it on ether would not fire so checked to see If I had fuel going to the pump and has great flow and cleaned the lines and filer housing going to it. cracked the lines going to the pump and no fuel spraying out. suspecting a bad pump but why wont it fire on eather is my question aint much of a diesel guy yet. looking for help

In my experience, if it's getting no diesel fuel whatsoever ether won't fire it. This was on an International 6.9 in a Ford F-250.

When a diesel won't fire on ether it is usually low on compression. In order to get compression it has to crank fast enough. how are your battery and cables? if you are getting heat at any connections it indicates resistance due to a poor connection.

If it's set that long I'll bet the injection pump has several stuck internal parts inside, just repaired a MM 670 pump that had the same trouble. No fuel to the injectors, metering valve, plungers, and delivery valve all stuck by stale fuel..
