2000 Ford 1973. The hydraulics are chattering
moving the loader about three eights increments.
It's full of oil .It started doing this after being worked
very hard. Do I need a new pump? Thanks

Is your loader run off of the 3 point hydraulics pump? Lots of loaders back then had a separate pump at the front of the tractor that was driven by a shaft off of the crankshaft pulley.

Does the 3 point lift also chatter?

I'd say it is your pump.
I had a one armed loader with a big snow bucket on it that was run off the remote valve.
Was moving snow and hit the curb with it. It started chattering after that and would barely lift the empty bucket.
A friend of mine said the chattering was a sure sign I had blown the pump.
I replaced the pump with another one I had and was back in business in short order.
Though I have never done it, I think those piston pumps are pretty easy to rebuild. They sell the parts to do it here at YT.
I sold the bad one on ebay as a rebuilder. Got a decent price for it.
