Spin on filter kit install

Ford the ppl who have done the spin on filter kit on a 6 cyl. The kit comes with a rubber o ring and a rubber gasket. Do i use both on the mounting surface of the cast plate up to the motor. Im asking cause i know rubber on rubber usually leaks. Thanks

Nobody answered so I'll toss this out. I did the changeover on a 3000 3 cyl. The kit had 3 parts: the flange, a flat rubber gasket and the
stud. Since they have been around for a long time and never heard any complaints, I figured they must work so I bought one and installed
it. So far, no gripes....I use the Motorcraft FL 1-A which I use in my other Fords including my '88 Ford truck 302 V8 when I drove Fords.

The parts site shows the adapter has both a gasket and an o-ring, but they are of different sizes, with the gasket being the larger diameter than the o-ring, so there would be no "rubber on rubber". Part 13 is the gasket and 14 is th eo-ring:

I don't understand the purpose of the 0ring nor the place to put it, and my kit for the 3000 came without one. Maybe there is a difference
in mountings for the two different sized tractors. My gasket fits where the OEM fit and the output is sealed by the #12's threads.

The parts drawing for the 3 cylinder kit is different. It only shows a gasket, number 12 in the drawing. From 11/69 on the block was changed on the 3 cylinder to take the spin on filter natively, parts 13 through 16 in the drawing:

Hmm im not sure. There is a groove for the oring amd they both deff touch together on mine. I put them both on and just like i figured i think its dripping a little bit. I need to wash it up
And make sure

Is yours an original Ford/New Holland kit, or is it an aftermarket kit?

Sorry, I can't help you then. It didn't come with any instructions? If not, you should contact the seller and ask them. If they can't provide an answer then return it and get your money back and find one from a seller that can provide instructions.
