Help please. my ford 600 runs and starts great when cold but after 5 min it quits. will not restart for 10 min or so. runs a couple min then dies again. was told coil was heating up so bought a new one same thing. am i missing something?

Trouble shoot before any parts.
#1 check that when it dies you have a good blue/white spark that will jump a 1/4 inch or more form the center wire of the distributor cap and at all 4 plugs wires. If you have that got to #2

#2 pull the carb drain plug and make sure you have a good steady flow of gas that will fill a pint jar in less then 3 minutes and yes catch it to look for rust/dirt.
#3 when was the last time you serviced the air cleaner?? It could be full of mud and water which can cause odd problems.

Then if you need more help post back what you find

why would you buy parts without checking?!?

at the moment of stall, check spark. if it has spark.. then you know it's fuel.

ave spark. at stall if i use choke it will start for a bit and then quit

Short out the ignition switch with a jumper wire the next time you use it. If the problem goes away, replace the ignition switch with a GOOD one.
