Carburator for Ford 5000 4 cyl. gas

I have a 5000 ford, 4 cyl. gas that is currently on propane and I would like to change it over and back to gas and need a carburator.

Salvage yard would be your best bet, although there weren't all that many 5000 gassers. If you can find a Ford 620 or 622 combine at a salvage yard, they used the same engine as the 5000 and most of them WERE gas.

The part number for the whole carb for a 5000 is E1NN9510GA. A quick Google search on that part number shows a couple of places that claim to have them, but you never know until you contact them. partspring.com shows one new for $416.30, and worthington ag parts.com (drop the spaces in the name) shows a rebuilt one for $195.00 plus a $45.00 core charge. But again, I recommend that you contact them to see if they really have one.

In my opinion, the best fix is to put a MS (I abreviate it MS since I can't spell Marvel Schebler) simular to what comes on a 801 but get one off a JD that has the linkage is the opposite side from the 801 which makes linkage much easier to manage. The cast iron MS is much superior to the aluminum carbs that came on the 3, 4, and 5,000 tractors. Air cleaner pipe fits perfect, fuel line and linkage takes a little modification.

D5NN9510A Ford Tractor 6600 Carburetor will work on the 5000 .. the 6000/6600 is the predecessor to the 5000 and uses the same engine..

Wow, how many ways is that incorrect...

The 6000 was a totally unique model in the Ford tractor lineup and was not a predecessor to any other model....

The 6600 was part of the x600 series which came after the thousand series (3000/4000/5000) so that was not a predecessor to a 5000 either. The 6600 replaced the 5000, so the 5000 was the predecessor to the 6600, not the other way around. So yes, a carb from a 6600 would probably work, but how many gasoline 6600's were made I don't know.

The part number that you referenced, D5NN9510A, has been superseded by part number E1NN9510GA, which is the same number that the 5000 carb has been superseded by, but even that is showing as no longer available, so it's still off to the salvage yards.

If someone comes across the same topic.. "like I did" at least there was a final response to the carb questions for a Ford 5000

(quoted from post at 16:03:47 04/15/17) And why are you replying to a 5 year old thread to begin with?

I have found several of the other carbs .. I could not find the one that came with my 5000 ... Letting everyone know it still fits the same engine .. Ordered "new" one today to replace a worn out original.. and YUP! it's still a Holley..

I assume that the one that you just bought was the one that was just sold on ebay. You got lucky. As I said, that part number is no longer available from New Holland and that one that you got was probably on a dealer's shelf for several years when they decided to put it on ebay. If you do a Google search on that part number that one that just sold on ebay is the only hit returned from the search that is really that model of carb that was actually for sale any time recently.

OK .. I don't know what the problem is with my post as I was passing the word to others... whether the carb was outdated or not .. the whole tractor is outdated to begin with... so ..I guess you have an issue with my response .. Personally I don't care. Yet to let you know this conversation is over with .. Move on, get over it and let others enjoy posting on the forum their information as needed.

First off, you were replying to a 5 year old post. That means that less than half of the people who frequent this forum saw it because they mostly still use classic view. You would have been better off starting a brand new thread saying that you had been looking for a carb for your 5000 and that you had lucked out and found a 6600 carb and it worked for you. That way everyone who frequents this forum would have seen.

Second, you gave some bad information. You said that the 6000 and 6600 were the predecessors to the 5000, which they were not. The 6000 was a totally different design and the carb from a 6000 would never work on a 5000. The 5000 was the predecessor to the 6600, not the other way around. The part number that you gave was superseded back in the 1970's.

Yes, searching on older part numbers does sometimes allow you to find things, but not always, and I don't think that you'll find another D5NN9510A carburetor anywhere.
