Power Steering gearbox parts swap question

I'm trying to fix a leak at the sector shaft in the lower gearbox.
This is an 851 with PS, but judging from the blue paint the
gearbox may have came off a 4 cylinder 4000 or something.

I don't think I will be successful in getting it to quit leaking
because it looks to me like the previous owner tried to get the
steering arm off with a hammer and chisel. They damaged the
casing, the sector shaft splines, etc.

So my question is, what lower gearbox portions will interchange?
Do they have to be power steering gearboxes or is the lower
portion of a manual the same? And what models?
Obviously a 9N/2N gear box wouldn't work, but would a late 8n?
X00, X01, prior 1000? Looking at my 3 cylinder 3000 it looks different.

This is a question I have wondered about
for several years now.
I believe the lower boxes are the same for
ps and non ps tractors.
What I don't know is if the bore for the
bearing in the very bottom of the box is
the same. I have a pretty strong hunch
that if you pulled the race out of a non
ps box the needle bearing for a ps shaft
would fit right in there and work. That
bore would need to be the same - both dia
and depth.
But I cannot say it will work untill
someone actually has both boxes in hand
and can measure that bore to confirm my
hunch.
