3600 175 Diesel Needed

I pulled the head off of a 175 diesel in a 3600 and found the piston and cyl wall is bad from busted rings and compression leak eating away at both of them. Owner is not sure the tractor is worth boring and an overhaul.
Are there any used 175 diesels out there to be found?

I don't have a source for an engine for you.
But just reminding you that any 3 cyl engine that was built from 1965 till about 1990 is physically the same size as your current one and will drop right into that tractor. A 158, 175, 183, 192 and 201 from any ag or industrial model will work.
So you might expand your search.
I ran a 201 gasser in a 3600 for about 3 years with no ill effects. Of course I was aware I had 30% more hp in it and didn't crack the whip on it too hard. It would sure bush hog though.
Then I changed that tractor to diesel and put a 175 in it and am still running it. After that 201 this 175 did seem puny at first.

PS,
If he does decide to rebuild what he has the consensus here is to bore and sleeve and NOT just over bore.
Those blocks are known for porosity/cavitation of the water jacket into the cylinder walls and just overboring without sleeving is a recipie for heartache down the road.

Thanks for the tips and information. We're looking for a used engine here in the St. Louis area and Sikeston Mo. also. No luck yet.
