335 ind. injector pump

I have a friend with a Ford 335 that he needs to replace the injector pump
Does he have to remove the frontend in order to pull it out???

If it's the CAV DPA rotary pump the gear cover in front of the pump drive gear needs removed, so the three gear to pump drive hub bolts can be removed. Would be easier to also drain coolant and remove the lower hose too that is next to the cover. Then after the pump lines and linkage are removed, the three pump to timing case stud nuts come off, allowing pump to be removed. Just repaired a 3600 pump, that's how it came off.
