Ford 8210 with single action hydralics

I am the proud owner of a (new to me) Ford 8210 and a (new to me) disc mower with a single action hydraulic cylinder. The tractor does not seem to like that cylinder plugged in to any of the ports on the back. When I plug it in and activate the valve it loads up the tractor and/or kicks the line out of the port. Any ideas?

Most likely the tips on the mower are not compatible with your Ford. There are I believe three different types in common use.

IS this the hydraulics that have the little lever to turn on the flow on the back of the tractor?? check inside of tractor to make sure the "needle" is not broken off the female port.

If not change the tips on the mower to iso tips...

Make sure the couple levers are turned parallel to the line if it's still got lever type couplers. Those also wear out and kick when pressure
is applied... Otherwise float the valve a couple times before applying pressure and see what happens. Beyond that... if it's kicking the line
out it may have the wrong tips. You need an Pioneer/ISO type tip. Deere or IH will not work.

I've had trouble in the past even with Pioneer tips. Those female Ford couplers can be very picky about what kind of male tip they will work with.

The only tips I've had a problem with were the type that had the fine needle point... those slip into the void in the center of the female coupler tip and they don't engage sufficiently to allow return flow. That was a maddening day.....

It was some pioneer model I think. I call it a needle point... but it's a pin, probably 1/16th across. What it is... is a bleed pin within a larger tip. They were intended to ease coupling because they bleed the pressure out of locked hoses.... but they only work against a ball coupler.
