600 Ford, how many of you would go get it?

I need another tractor like a hole in the head, got too many now according to the wife, found a good running 600 Ford locally with good tires, runs good, new cap, wires, points, battery and extra fenders for a $1000, also new gauges that are not installed with it, how many of ya'll would jump on this deal, thinking about getting it and resale for a little extra...

Maybe the market is stronger where you
are but around here in Connecticut
nowadays they don't bring much more than
that

The market on old tractors bottomed out here 3 to 5 years ago, at one point in time I sold some 9N, 8N, and TO-30 Fergusons each at $2500 apiece and a Jubilee fetched $3000, now a days I see them on Craigslist for sale all painted up in my area for $1500-2000 and their posted repeatedly for months on end without selling, I may go get this 600 Ford tomorrow and put new lipstick on her as I have some paint left and try to find a buyer at $1500 or so....

Which model of the 600 series is it?
I'd probably buy it if I didn't have to do too much to it.
Location and options are the key to price though.

I have not looked at it in person, don't know the series, owner sent me 6 pictures of it and a video, it's about 18 miles northwest of me

"4 speed, got to be a 640 series"

600 is the series, four speed would make it possibly a 640 model.
Could be a 620 or 630 model which also had a 4 speed trans.
Difference would be if it has, or originally came with, PTO and 3 pt
hitch. They could have been added later, so may be there anyway.
Model number, at least for the transmission, will be stamped on
the flat area just above and aft of the starter. If it's legible.

I don't see any difference in the three if those options are there.
The 650 would have the 5 speed and the 660 the five speed with
live PTO. Still the same 134 CI engine and they all work great.
May make a difference $ wise if you want to resell it though.

I would and I woulden't be selling it. I would just tell the better half this ones for one of the granddaughters.

even with old tractor prices down, a running, working 640 with good tires is worth twice that.
I'd buy it at 1000 immediately whether I needed it or not. 'Money in the bank'.
And in my case....it would probably end up replacing something here.
600's are good tractors.

I don't need another tractor that size, but at $1000, it
would have been here before I posted about it. Here,
that's a $2500 + tractor.

Plan on checking it out later this afternoon after 5:00 CST, will post back what I decide about it

Just my luck, the owner wont reply now, he sent me a text to contact him at 5:00 this evening, left him a message on his phone since he didn't answer me, and sent him two text messages, I believe he has backed out on the sale. Had my trailer hooked to truck and ready to go, he still has it listed on Craigslist, people don't have common courtesy no more these days, if he sold it after he texted me this morning he could have had the decency to tell me and remove the ad....
