Ford Parts from here

I recently purchased some parts off this website for my Ford 5000. A tach drive, a tach drive cable, a dual fuel filter set up, and a fuel shut off. Of all of these parts, I was able to use exactly zero on my tractor. The fuel filter "bolt on" unit had the pipe fittings tapped so deep, I bottomed out before sealing and it leaked fuel like a sieve. Next on to the tach drive unit (also a "bolt on"), the square drive of the unit was so much larger than the square cable they sent, or even my original Ford, that is just slipped passed instead of engaging. Complete junk. Then on to the fuel shut off. Works great when closed, but when open, leaks like a sieve as well. Four hours of fooling around draining fuel, bleeding fuel system wasted. Anyone else have any experience with the quality of these after market absolutely worthless parts?

To the best of my knowledge you cannot get a a lever type shutoff anywhere that will not leak out of the box.

You might contact YT and explain what you found when installing their parts. I am sure they want to provide quality parts and will appreciate your input so they can find a better supplier. I am also sure they will make it right with you. Quality is a very real issue when buying parts for tractors or even cars and trucks. I bought a water pump for my 7.3 only to have it leak after installing. Removed and examined. Found very poor casting. Returned to Napa and they showed me another, both made you know where. I then asked for and American made pump. Comparing the three the difference was amazing. The American made pump was of far superior workmanship. The Chinese don't care about precision in their parts. They make them so cheaply they think nothing of the loss in having to replace them. Neither do they care about the customer and building a reputation for quality. The end result is that the U.S. seller such as YT and the consumer suffer loss too. IMHO

I bought a cheap replacement shutoff valve for my 3 cylinder 4000 several years ago and it leaked the same, around the center shaft when the valve was open and didn't leak at all when closed. I ended up taking it apart and used the o-ring from the new one to replace the o-ring on the original valve and put the original one back in. It hasn't leaked at all since then.

I'm not aware of a lever type shutoff with NPT threads. Certainly the lever type fuel tap commonly associated with 4 cylinder prior tractors will
not attach to a 5000 fuel tank. Maybe I can learn something tonight?

"The Chinese don't care about precision in their parts."

The Chinese deliver exactly what is requested of them.
Precise or not. If the requesting company demanded precise
tolerances, they would deliver it, but the cost would be higher.

That cost would of course be passed on and the consumer would
not want to pay it. Thus, we have cheaply made, low quality
parts. At no fault of the Chinese people, rather, the consumer.

Would you or I pay more for quality if it were available?
Yes, particularly on certain parts. But the majority? Probably not.

BTW, most of the poor quality parts I've bought recently were not
built in China. Many other countries involved in cheap production.

Still, I agree with you about contacting YT.
They have been good about getting me the right stuff when an
issue comes up. Bashing them on their own forum seems to be
a bit out of line unless they refused to help you with a problem.

Hmmmmmmmmm. In the spirit of good professionalism ,I trust you contacted "YT" before you shared your anxiety ?
