Ford Delux Seat Rubber Flex Part No Longer Available

Hey spring is just around the corner and I still haven"t found the rubber spring for my 3600 original seat. The old part number is D6NNB453B. I have two of these seats sandblasted, primed and finished just to find New Holland doesn't offer the spring any more. Should have known, seems New Holland wants to sell a new replacement seat. Not very good for a restoration enthusiast. Would any one in YT world know if anyone has any NOS or one of the Chinese knock-offs for sale. All the ones I ever got used are shot just from age and making one is out since they were molded elastomers which takes a rubber molder to make. It is made like a rubber motor mount which is molded to the other two steel components. The seats are of no use without it. I sure could use the help, don't want any aftermarket seats.

As 730 says, Chinese torsion springs are readily available but quality is suspect.

I've had bad luck with the Chinese units. They all seem to separate within a year or so.

Since the demise of Minn-Kota Repair, I now know of no source of quality units.

If you already have new seat cusions or your old ones are good are good, look around for the old style deluxe seat frame. Notice the crimped pipe sticking out of the sides. They used a steel torsion spring that pretty much never wears out or deteriorates. I have two of the old style and think they are the best.
I 'restored' one a couple of years ago. New bushings - from the hardware store, and a nearly new seat I bought used on craigslist.
I still didn't have the adjusting handle on it in the finished photo. It is a metal handle, not a knob.

Thanks guys for the info. If the only springs available are Chinese, I think I just pass. My former job was managing a metal stamping company supplying parts to rubber molders around the midwest. I got to deal with a Japanese firm in Findlay, OH and they would take me back to their rubber mixing lab and describe the process of blending for specific applications. They were meticulous at what they do. One statement they made was that the Chinese competition was increasing and not with good effects. He said the Chinese know very little about how to formulate "recipes". And if they did they will go for a cheaper batch and pass it along as equal to the competition. Most of the Chinese rubber is defective and is so poorly processed it should not be allowed in the USA. The metal mounts we made were vulcanize molded to a metal sleeve and it was very complicated and went to Mazda in Flatt Rock, MI and held the radiator on their high end vehicles. Chinese just won't do. Thanks all...

You might try CNH.

As recently as 10-12 years ago quality springs were available from CNH but they were VERY expensive.

I have not checked lately, but it is likely that the Chinese competition has caused the American manufacturers to cease production.
