Old 4000 spindle bushing

Finally got the bushings out. Top was easier, was able to weld a few beads on the bush and pop it out with long screwdriver. The bottom, not so easy. ..

Could not get the stick welder to spark. I banged on a pipe foe an hour. Used lots of tools but if I were to do it again, I would buy a few new saw zaw blades, cut bush about 80% through, then chisel from top or bottom. That will split the cut and wa-la, it will pop out. This is what worked for me.

Most folks use a bushing driver to drive the new bushings in without removing the old bushings.

Just did a set for a guy it was a 4 or 5000 he just brought in the knees. I can tell you they were a bear to get out he was installing new spindles so I cut them up and welded them to the bushings and drove them out. I had to completely weld the old spindle to the bushing if not the weld would break out of the bushing. Getting them in was also a bear lucky me has several worn out cam bushing driver sets the owner provided the man power with a BFH hammer.

I was lucky he took it apart and brought in just the outer part of the axle.

I have a hydraulic press. Going to take arm off tractor, freeze the bushings, heat the arm and hopefully press them in.
I don't think I could have pushed the old ones in as stated, the upper bush had a stop it was seated against.
