have 231 ford starts fine. trouble is it will just die unless I pull the choke all the way. re did the head. good compression. retimed. all new electrical with electronic distributor. new plugs. rebuilt carb. will run alright for a while then tries to die. pull choke and it runs ok with occasional miss. out of ideas. anyone have any thoughts on this.

if it runs for awhile with the choke normal.. your starving for fuel..

your float can be set too low..

your fuel lines are restricted

something is blocking the drain valve in the tank..

the slow fuel flow will fill up the carb bowel when sitting, enough to run correct initially,, but after consuming fuel for a bit, the supply of fuel can not keep up... choking cuts down the air so that the mixture will work better with less fuel..

if it needs choke initially and then the whole time, could also be a vacuum leak, plugged jets.
