881 running

Hooray! Got the NEW external filter all hooked up yesterday and the sight glass mounted on the right access cover plate on tranny housing. Filled with oil started up and all three circuits had 180 psi! Improvised oil light sender works(got one from NAPA that goes off at 3-12 psi).

No leaks anywhere and checked the filter discharge in tranny good flow through filter. Put cover back on hooked up pto and shifter cable took her out for a drive and all gears worked(some not too well got a little worried until I remembered I had to set the bands).

This morning went out and had to adjust short shifter cable(only one turn I was too short), warmed it up, set the bands and she works like a million bucks!

I know my Dad is looking down with a grin from ear to ear.

Thanks to all for advice and help (especially Larry for the parts).

there's a fellow in church that is an old-time Ford man - in his 80's now, he had several 4 and 3 cylinder Fords new back in the day -

the only thing I've done that impressed him was to disassemble a S-O-S, repair, put it back together and have it work - - he told me that directly and still refers to it occasionally - (I still have and use the tractor) -

it's not a small accomplishment - congratulations -

It really wasn't too hard to do. Would've been easier if I had a good back! lol

Biggest relief was it was obvious what was broken once apart and parts were still available.

I worked for a Case dealer so I was familiar with power shift transmissions.

Got the hood and air cleaner back on today(that was fun getting hood re-aligned  ). Just have to pick up a few screws for hood that were missing and put pto handle on then I can start working over loader bracket for stabilizer bar.
