64 4000 Spindle

Have a loose spindle, forward and back play. Need to replace spindle bushings and bearings. Took spindle nut off, spindle not pushing through. Manual says to use a puller, I don't have one. Do I need puller to get steering arm off? Am i doing something wrong?

I think you need to do some more explaining if you want help. What spindle nut? Pushing through where?

How do I get the spindle out?

Pull the steering arm off, use a large screw driver or wedge in the arms slot to help loosen the arm. After the steering arm is off, remove the Woodruff key from the spindle and drop the spindle down out of the housing.
