3000 Friction Disc Changeout

With the tractor being at the farm several counties away, I want to try my best to take with me all the parts I might need next month when changing out the friction disc (#32 in the diagram below).

Looking at the diagram, can it be as easy as removing the hardware set 27-25-26 and then the control lever 33?

Is there anything else I should bring with me? I suppose the surfaces should be dressed -- what are your thoughts? Thank you in advance for your help.

Lever 33 is held on by the nut and washers you listed, if you have the outer ring 35 bolted to 29, it need to come off.
Lever 33 is mounted onto shaft 22 and held inline by key 24, keep in mind the lever as been on that shaft for over 40 years, most likely it's not going to come off easy.
Penetrating oil is your friend, if you have a good torch i'd take it with me.
No room for a puller but a couple of good flat screw drivers to force between the lever and quadrant 29 would be handy.

Have you tried tightening the nut 27 to see if you could add tension to the friction disc thats already there.
You may want to try loosening the nut first to make sure it's not froze to the shaft as well.

Just take the nut, spring and washer off an wiggle off the lever. The quadrant (29) on mine was bent so the lever was rubbing. I took it off and straightened it. The shaft stays in place.

I'd take some sandpaper, like 220 or finer grit to polish the plates adjacent to the disc assuming you "need" to replace it along with your wrenches and new disc. New lock nut probably
wouldn't hurt and as others have said, maybe some tools to aid you if the problem is just a loose nut or bent lever.
