Carburetor leaks

Carburetor fills up and seeps gas slowly out of air intake after rebuild. Replaced seat, needle and gasket. I've got two other 800's that are doing the same thing after rebuilds. What am I missing?

I have the same issues with a 650. The cure is to turn off gas and run fuel out of carburetor before shutting down.

Are they the rubber tipped needles?? If yes you need to either put a set in them by dropping the needle in the seat an tapping on the needle a few times. Or you can just run it that way and soon or later the needle will set it self.

Also did you put the gasket under the needle seat and tight it down real good. If you did not put the gasket there or did not tighten down enough it can leak there

The gasket is in and tight. I'll try the seating trick. Thanks Old

After rebuilding the tsx carb on a 820 ford I had similar problems. Somewhere on these forums it was mentioned that the threads of the seat and nozzle leak on some of these carbs. After removing the carb numerous times and rechecking every thing I coated the threads of the nozzle and needle seat with Permatex High tack. I was very neat and careful with the High tack and coated the gasket as well, allowed it to dry over night. The leaking stopped. If you try this please reply to the forum with the results. I am not completely convinced that this was the problem. Perhaps I finally adjusted the float properly. Good luck.

Yeah, my 871 does the same thing after carefully rebuilding the MS carb twice. Just a little gas sweating out the sintered bronze drain in the bottom, even after shutting the gas valve at the tank. Runs great, just leaks a little when not running. I got tired of fighting it and put up with the gas stains on the oil filter. :?

I just rebuilt mine Saterday, the only problem I had was getting the choke plate in properly. Everything else went smooth as silk. The kit I bought for my M/S carb came with a instructional diagram. I'm really impressed how my tractor runs now.

Thanks pattyjoe. The permatex fixed the problem. It's been 4 months since I tried the high tack and still doesn't leek.

This. It's probably the gasket under the needle seat not compressed enough.
I had the same thing happen to me. Thought it was tight until I put a little cheater on a larger screw driver. Shazzzam, no more leak. Arthritic hands don't put out the torque like they used to.
