have 1986 ford 1910 tractor that I just completely changed all hydraulic oil and filter. What is the
steps to restart pump and test all unit will have oil before running the tractor ?

Is there plugs that I need to remove to check oil,at each unit?

fill until hydraulic dipstick shows full, crank and idle engine. Work lift up and down a couple of times, work steering stop to stop a couple of times (if tractor has power steering)Cycle loader and bucket if it has one. Lower everything and re-check oil level. Done

don't have any attachments...just power steering...will filing filter and top of pump do any thing at all?

(quoted from post at 14:02:26 02/18/17) It might save a tiny amount of wear, especially if you've had it apart any amount of time

had it apart for almost 2 week....and to cold to work on it..Refilled a few days ago,,ready to start on getting pump primed and use 3 point hitch.

Have you tried starting the tractor and checking to see if the 3 point lift works? If it was working before you changed the fluid then it probably doesn't need to be primed. If it wasn't working before you changed the fluid then priming the pump may or may not get it working.

New to tractors...not sure how to get lift to work...there is small peddle on foot rest, just under seat does this have be used with the lift lever ?

I'm not intimately familiar with that model, but that pedal that you're talking about sounds like the differential lock and should have nothing to do with the 3 point lift.

There should be one or two large handles on the right side of the seat in slot(s) on a "Quadrant", which is a piece of sheet metal curved into a quarter circle (hence the name quadrant). If the tractor only has draft control then it will have one handle and if it has both draft and position control modes it will have 2 handles. Moving both levers (or the one if it only has one) down and forward should cause the 3 point lift to lower, and moving either handle up and to the rear should cause it to raise.

Position control is exactly what it sounds like, the handle controls the position of the lift. Draft control, on the other hand, is used for ground engaging implements like a plow, and the draft control handle controls how hard the implement can "draft", or pull backward on the tractor, before the system will automatically raise the implement to decrease the amount of draft the tractor experiences.

thank you Sean for a explanation. If there is flow at the steering,,then there should be oil at the 3 point lift . May have to rebuild piston,if lift doesn't move ?

If the power steering works and the 3 point lift does not, that just tells you that the pump itself is working along with the valves for the steering. The problem with the lift not working could be a number of different things, like a leaking or stuck valve or a leaking internal seal of some sort.

If you don't have an Operator's Manual (Owner's Manual) and a Service Manual, get both. The Operator's Manual will cover all of the routine maintenance procedures like changing fluids and filters. The Service Manual should have troubleshooting procedures to help determine the cause of things not working properly, like the 3 point lift, as well as the proper procedures to take things apart, repair or rebuild them and and put them back together again.
