With all due respect to the deceased, I don't know how this could have been any tractor other than a SOS. Regardless, be careful out there when adjusting those shift cables!

No disrespect intended either, but how could the news media think he was loading hay "onto the tractor."
guess it is in tune with today's 'fake' news trends?

Unless you read a different article than me I don't see where it mentioned it was even a Ford. There are many ways a tractor can slip into gear, first off many gear tractors can be pushed into first gear at an idle and take off if shifter was kicked or a hay bale etc fell against it. Also most any tractor with a reversed will take off if the lever is pushed or a worn detent or such. Most any hydrostatic transmission as well can take off due to bumping or worn parts. I wouldn't jump to the conclusion it's a sos

You're right, it did not say what kind of a tractor it was. However, after I read the article, the first thing that popped in my mind was "SOS", because those transmissions are known killers. As I implied in my original post, it's a good reminder to be aware of this possibility for anyone who adjusts their SOS shift cables. For one with worn parts, it's better not to have 10th gear than to get run over. It gives me the creeps to even think about one that is sitting halfway between P and R2.
