4000D update and advice needed

Guys, got the head back from the machine shop over the weekend. Ended up costing me $85 to have the #3 exhaust guide replaced, guides honed to fit new valves and valve seats touched up. I also sent the injectors to a local shop to have them tested to make sure they were ok. I finished up putting the top end back together last night. I cranked the tractor over a little before the battery died but it didn't even try to fire off. I think I may still have air in the lines. I had to use an air nozzle to push air into the tank to get the filter full. I'm confident that I have it good to go.

I need advice on the CAV pump. I have always dealt with the Simms pumps. I know how to bleed them. Is the air bleed for the CAV pump that tiny little bolt on the side of the pump? 5/16" head I think? When I have the injector lines cracked at the injectors I'm getting a little dribble of fuel and I'm also seeing fuel in the return line but there was no smoke from the manifold that indicated to me that it was trying to start. Any words of wisdom or sharing of experience would be greatly appreciated!

If the battery was on its way to running out of juice then I doubt it was turning fast enough. Try again with a known good battery that is fully charged.

It started out charged but I forgot to swap out the piece of crap cheap + cable and that helped suck it down I think. Cable was dang near smokin' when I took it off and replaced with the right heavy gauge
cable. I left it on a slow charge last night, I'll try it again tonight and report back.

If you had to use air pressure to push fuel to the filter something is blocking fuel flow, shutoff valve screen full of trash or filter gasket blocking the filter's inlets.
When I change filters, after turning the fuel valve open I'll have fuel coming out of the filter bleed screw in less than a minute, if it takes more than two minutes to fill the filter something is blocking fuel flow.
If your not getting good flow to the pump it's not going to start, it does take a whole to bleed a dry system, but the small dribble from the inj lines tells me you may not be getting fuel to the pump.

Still no love with the 4000D. I rebled the system. I made sure I had good flow from the tank. Took everything apart and flow tested all the way to the pump. I did find an issue with the filter setup. Looks like someone swapped the line that goes to the side of the pump to the wrong port on the filter. I'm going to try it again tonight.

IF you changed the filters and it has the "sandwich" type set-up, where the cartridge is sandwiched between the head and bowl..
The TOP oring goes UP IN the filter head and NOT on the filter..
It fits perfectly ON the filter but if you put it there, it chokes off the fuel supply..
Put it UP IN the filer head..
The bleed screw is the 5/16 headed screw by the name plate..
Loosen the bleed screw and crank the engine, it should shoot a stream a city block if everything is clear up to the pump.
Good luck. TPG
