8240 will not move

I have a customers 8240 will not move. I have flow checked the pump and it is good,also hi and low pressure standby is ok.
Steering ,remotes,pto works. By the way this is a 16x16.The 1 thu 4 and 5 thu 8 does not shift through the light pattern. I think it is an electrical problem.I have no pressure at c1c2c3c4.Customer said it has done this several times he would shut it off start it up and it work fine.Of course it quit now all together.

I had the same problem with my 8240, twice. The first time it was because the $5,300 hydraulic pump quit. The second time it was because the seal for one of the clutch packs gave out. The on-board diagnostics will allow you to measure fill times for the different clutch packs, and thus ID where the bad seal is. It is possible that it is one of the solenoid valves. If it is early, before Sept. 1 1996 I believe, the solenoids are inside of the transmission housing. If late, they are outside, behind thew right wheel. Solenoid valves are NLA new. but you may catch some used ones or something after market that fits. Good Luck, I sold mine after the second hit. and the new owner found out about NLA valves.
 

Been a long time but i worked on 8700 with problem i think trans oil flow control is top solenoid ? check by disconnect wire at solenoid tap wire with 12v source listen for click no click no work. all those solenoids are same swap out bottom for top meyers snow plow solenoid may work?
 

I forgot to mention the self diagnostic does not work if this is any help.
Do not know way.
 
I'm not really familiar with those things at all... but anecdotally, from wht I've heard about them around here... I'd wager the problem is electrical, in the control programs. If the computer doesn't want to talk to you that's the first place I'd start.
I've heard of very few problems with actual mechanical failures with that transmission.
