HELLO ALL, Its been some time since I've been here but here goes.
I have a ford 1715 with a shibaura j843 engine it will not start.
compression readings were #1-300 psi,#2-190psi and #3-200psi.
leak down test showed #1-75%,#2-78%,#3-85%.
I decided to tear it down found poor sealing on valve to seat in head also a lot of carbon build up on #2 exh port.
popped the pistons out after I cut the ridge off, found #2 compression ring on #2 piston stuck.
measured the pistons and cyl bores.
so here comes the question
spec for pistons are 3.303-all pistons measure out to 3.303 no problem.
spec for cyl bore is 3.307-3.308
#1-3.306,#2-3.306,#3-3.309. standard bore clearance is.0034-.0041 max is0.0118.
with #3 piston to bore clearance at .006 will I be able to make up enough compression by just reringing or should I bore it .020 over.
thanks for any insight.
