ford naa jubilee

I have a jubilee that I am have issues. The guy that I bought it from said it ran fine and he couldn't get it started. I don't know if it stopped on him or if he shut it off then couldn't get it to start. He had the points but hadn't gotten them in. Well today we were working on it and found that it didn't have any compression. None on any cylinder. Plugs look good, no oil on them at all. This guy put all new rims and new front tires plus all new gauges. I don't think he would have spent the money if it was using oil. Does anyone have any ideas. Were going to check the valves tomorrow. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Ed

Zero compression could be a couple of things. Maybe a cam gear issue where the gear has stripped out or the pin that told the gear from on the cam so it turns the cam has broken. Not likely tha tall cylinders have valve stuck open on them but yep pull th valve cover and spin it over and see if the valves are moving or if it has a number of stuck valves.

Yep, remove valve cover and have a look see. If valves are moving take the plugs out and make sure the pistons are moving when you hit the starter.

As the others have said, check to see if the valves are moving and the distributor. I too have had to help replace cams in these engines after water in the hydro oil froze and broke cam when trying to crank with frozen pump.

Update guys. Took the valve cover off and all valves are working. He put oil in the cyl's and pressure went up to 75 lbs on each cyl. He said the top of the cyl head was very clean. Were going to try and get it running Monday or Tuesday and go from there. Thanks for the help and I'll keep you umdated. Thanks Ed

It takes at lease 100 psi of compression for a cylinder to fire properly, I never had much luck getting one to start using the starter with less than 80 psi.
That engine should have 125-150 psi compression.
