Narrow front pedestal.

As some of you may already know, I love Ford narrow fronts, but my 961 is a wide front currently.

This narrow front pedestal popped on on CL near me. Question is, what would it take to put the wheels on there? I'm assuming the wheels from the wide would fit onto it?
Also is $250 for the pedestal too high? Seems a little high to me but I've not seen them for sale before.
NF on craigslist

I think you can just slip the hub's off your wide front and slip them right on the NF. As far as price I'm not sure cause I never see them come up around here so it maybe reasonable. Seem once you go NF you don't go back.

I don't see them come up very often for the Fords either.
I see them for the JD two cylinders pretty regular.
I bought two of the JD ones from a guy that wanted to get
rid of them, one a Roll-O-Matic and the other a standard.
Gave him $100 or $125 each as I recall.
Thought that was pretty cheap.

I have a NF on my 961 and have another one coming I bought out of Linton, Indiana. Paid $200 for that one with both hubs attached. When the original came, one side was damaged beyond use. The seller is nice enough to be sending me a replacement for that one. It will be going on a 961 down at my farm in SE Illinois. Here's a picture of the 961 with the NF. It's going to get prettied up in the spring when I can spray it after a good degreasing, power wash and wire brushing.

I agree that the price is high but since they never come up for sale you better pay it quick.

Yup. They slide right off wide front and right onto the NF. Everything the same size wise. Hubs, bearings, etc..

"I'm south of Lansing MI. I suspect I'll run up and grab this one if you're too far from me."

I'm closer, maybe I'll go buy it, then charge you double! LOL
You know I'm joking Andy, more power to you!

Dunno if you're wanting to have both styles but I'll bet you could find someone who would swap with you if you put an ad on CL.
No money exchanged or even a few $ your way.
As to the WF/NF debate, it does seem like more and more guys are liking the narrow fronts. On their tractors at least.
On their women they probably still prefer the wide fronts.

I agree, UD.

It was only a few years ago, that you could not give a NF away as most folks were converting to WF after the corn cultivating days were gone. WF units were easily sold for $500+.

Now that most of these tractors are owned by collectors, the NF has again become popular.

Tom, I hope that you will be painting your starter and Genny red :).

Sorry Royse, already got it. ;). Tom at the Portland family farm and home. Another good ole Ford tractor enthusiast. He said he has other row crop parts as well.

I think I'll wait for warmer days to make it NF though...
