641 Diesel engine rebuild options?

Hey everybody. I posted here several months ago about an old Ford I'd found for short money, with a blown engine. You guys told me that parts for the 2.4L I4 diesel are very hard to come by, but the price was right like I said, and there is some sentimental value to the tractor, an old man in my neighborhood drove it around for decades, so I brought it home.

I finally got the engine torn into today, and I found about what I was expecting: carbon deposits that clogged the exhaust ports so small you can't fit your pinky finger through them, I'm assuming from very worn rings and bores, and the #1 rod bearing melted down into those tortilla chip looking pieces that anyone who's torn apart a knocking engine is familiar with. The crank is scored, but pretty lightly.

Several people here before told me to junk the diesel and switch in a gas, but I don't want to if I can help it. I'd really like to make this diesel breathe again. I've got experience doing the work, but where can I find the parts? Were there even parts produced for these engines? Even gasket sets? I know rings and bearings, especially undersized if I need them, will be tough to come by, but does anybody have any ideas? A starting point is better than what I've got now.

Thanks guys! Alex

Where on their site did you find it? I can't find anything about that tractor or engine. Maybe I'm missing something on their site

Go to parts sales then New Holland Agriculture, then enter the 641, then select diesel 144 engine interior.

Ah, wow, great! Thank you both!

I guess like anything else, you just have to know where to look. Some significant google search time didn't turn up much.

Thanks for those critical torques.

What I need first though are the machining specs.

I'll see if I can get them from a manual online.
