4000 power steering

Just had steering column rebuilt on a 4000, trying to find out the plumbing on the hydraulic line that go to each steering cylinders It was all disconnected when I purchased it. There are four 1/4" lines that connect to the steering valve.

I can take some photos of mine tomorrow and try to post them if you don't find a diagram or anything before then.

hanks that would be help full , I will keep looking for a diagram

What I do is remove the front end of the
cylinder from the drag link and hang them on
a piece of wire. Then hook the lines up and
start the tractor. Watch as you turn the
steering wheel to insure that they are going
the same direction as the drag link. Takes a
bit of concentration to get your head around
what is moving where but not too hard.
Never force the steering wheel against the
hydraulics. It will break the springs inside
the hydraulic block in the column.

Do the 1/4" return lines go at the top or bottom of the steering valve?

I don't understand what you're asking.
First of all I'm assuming this is a 4
cylinder 4000 with radius rods and a
steering cylinder on both sides. Is that
correct?
You should always mention which one you have
as there are at least 5 types of PS for a
4000. The 4 cyl, all purpose type like I
think you have, the 4 cyl row crop, the
early type for a 3 cylinder 4000 all
purpose, late type for 3 cyl 4000 AP, the
hydrostatic type for a 3 cyl row crop plus a
couple of different types for 4000
derivitives - 3550,4400,4500, etc.
Anyway, back to your question; if you can
explain yourself better I'm sure we can help
you.

Don't know if this will help? these are some pics of a 4000 parts tractor I am tearing apart.

Ok, new power steering pump and rebuilt steering column all hooked up like the pictures posted below. I have the front end of the tractor on jack stands, and the steering wheel turns rotates all the way right and left all on its own and I am unable to hold the steering wheel in the neutral position. Anyone have an Idea what I have done wrong?

It's best to start a new thread for stuff like this and link to the old post.
This thread is over a week old and for us guys who still use modern view no one reads back that far - to
page 4 or whatever it's on by now.
That said, who rebuilt the hydraulic block and how do you know if all the plungers are in the right holes?
