Ugly 3000 now what

I posted a couple of days ago on the ugly 3000sos I picked up with beat up tin etc. I was able to spend some time with it and here is my report. Does have the convertable three point arms. We put a battery in it and it spun so i replaced the points. Dumped a couple gallons of fuel in it and it fired up and ran well. Wow. Ok.
The cover was loose on the sos and i was told it was bad when we got it. Oil looked low. The controller was in pieces. We thought maybe that was what was wrong with it so I dropped the oil and refilled. There was not much oil in it. I used a screwdriver to swtch gears and the end result is that it shifts and drives in all gears. I expected it to be a parts machine but now i am uncertain. Tin is rough but I have extra. Worth saving?

Couple questions It is a high tin model so does that mean i have to use high tin or is it just where it mounts and all tin is the same? Sorry if a stupid question
The serial number is 103242d9. What is with the d9?

Three point works great and it charges. Really ugly though

Any opinions?

Using a horrible computer so hard to type and cant post pics yet but will

Here is the before pic of the 3000. I have taken off the hood, powerwashed and put some ugly tires on it. Thanks again for all the help again.

The three point works great and one headlight fires up. Too bad the building collapsed on it.

Some new tin and a bit of paint and...Viola! The ugly duckling turns into a ...well...a decent little tractor. Ben

The only difference between the high tin and low tin is the hole for the steering column is located differently in the cowl.
The nose and firewall tin are adjustable and fit both styles and the hoods fit either as well.
Diesels are a little different with a bracket that holds the front of the cowel - no firewall tin but it is still adjustable heightwise.
In the photo the yellow cowl is high and the blue one is low.
The underdash or steering tins on that tractor would be fairly rare. Not only are they taller for the high tin models but yours would have the cutouts for the SOS shifter and pto cables.

If it was me, I would straighten the tin the best I could and re-install. Then I would use it for a while and see how it runs out. If it ends up as good as its starting to look, then do the repairs to your liking. If it doesn't, you still have a parts tractor.

re the engine heater I saw in your previous pictures, where is the lower end of the heater plumbed into the block? Thanks!
