I think if I owned such a "rare" tractor I'd put the correct
exhaust on it, paint it the right colors and buy it new lug nuts.
That's just me though. It's his. He can do what he wants.

So........ maybe I should sell my
960 for 10 grand? Nah. I'll paint it
and double my money. Lol. Dumb
question, why would that be "rare"?

"...why would that be "rare"?"

Because being "rare" makes it worth more in an ad.

It is not a rare tractor at all. They are more prevalent in
some parts of the US then they are in other parts of the US.
It's a row crop tractor. Parts of the country that didn't normally
raise row crops would most likely see less of them.

It is not a high crop as far as I can tell.
A high crop would be less common than a row crop.
IF Ford made a high crop 961. Can't say for sure that they did.

I have a 960. It works good, doesn't look all that good.
Delivered for $1200 with receipts for a $1200 professional
engine rebuild. No power steering on mine.
Had to buy tires ~4 years later. Re-painted the rear rims then.
I'm not complaining. It has served me well.
Some day I'll get around to painting it the right colors.

It is like the guy that fixes up an old car and puts 30 grand into it.
You can never get back out of it what you put in it. That is just the way it is.

Well - one thing I know, you won't get it if you don't ask -

P.T. Barnum said something about human nature...if I could just remember what....

I think it's got the wrong sheetmetal as
well, 001 series would have had the spot
for the sos pto cable I believe, and I
don't see it plugged off in the pic. I'm
not one to nitpick but when someone asks
so much for one it best be correct!

Good thought but for one thing. The 961 would have came out in 1957/1958 and the Select-O-Speed did not come out until 1959. So the early models would not have the hole for the PTO cable. Maybe it is "rare" because it was built before the Select-O-Speed came out.

Ahh ok thank you, I had been under the impression all 001 series had that in the sheet metal thank you for clarification

Rare??? 2 out of 3 Fords built in the early 1950's were like that, & I can prove it! Just look in my shed! lol!!
