5030 crankcase Capacity

The manual calls for 12.5 litres but the dipstick showed overfull at 9.I ran the engine to fill up the filter and it's still over. I suspect
an error in the manual. The cooling capacities are the same as crankcase so this may be how the error occured. Does anyone here know the
correct engine oil amount so I can correct the manual? Thanks Rob
 

5030 has a 256 four cylinder engine like my 5000, at holds 9 qrts with filter, roughly about 8.5 liters.
Drain a couple liters out in a clean container and then add back until it shows full.
 
Thanks,450.That seems about right but I had dumped the old oil into the barrel before refilling so couldn't be sure. The filter and oil cost $105 with
tax so the excess is definitely going back into the jug for reuse.

Filter here cost less than 10 bucks for the 2 qt variety when bought by the case. Oil about 3 bucks per liter.

It should take about 8 liters.

That makes CNH oil about $90 with taxes in for about 13 litres or close to $7 per litre at the dealer.
 
With all those environment charges... you must live in Wynneland...

I mostly use Total engine oil now... it's about 60-65 bucks a bucket or so. Order filters from the Cummins dealer by the case... although the filter price you paid isn't too bad really.
