Just bought an ugly tractor.

Probably the ugliest thing I have picked up since, well I better be politically correct.

It was cheap and the engine supposedly runs. Spare parts!!!!

Hey at least that one still has some paint on it. I have a D-17 A/C that I swear has been in a fire since the sheet metal looks like it got hot and has no paint but it runs good

Will the rear axle off of this work with a 6 speed tranny? Reason I ask is this rear end has the transmission disconnect in it for the sos. Can that just be removed?

I did not even notice that the carb was different. I
am going to part it out but not to sell other than sos
specific parts. I was told the engine runs and the
tranny was bad. The cover is loose on the tranny so
probably bad.

Is that a zenith?

Thanks for the pictures. Have you checked the serial #? I wouldn't be surprised if it's a '65 like ours. The pictures help, because it confirms what the FORD 3000 decal originally looked like (ours if faded/rubbed off and many of the claimed original repops have a silver background). Also shows for sure that the fenders were originally blue, not the gray-white used on later years.

Man,
That IS a pernicious looking thing.
Did he give you the ugly stick that he beat it with?
I do see some interesting parts on it.
Steering tins, hard to find round top air cleaner cover, might be convertible cat I/II lift arms, remote valve, light front bolster lets you use a cast iron pan, maybe the head lights, drawbar, my favorite style of gas cap. Looks like original sway bar brackets.
By all indicators it is an early one yet it has low tin on it. Odd.
I can not say with authority but I think thr ring and pinion on an SOS rear end is geared lower. So coupling it to a 6 sp would give you a slow tractor. That might not be a big issue for you though.
It will bolt up. Change the pto shaft and add the pto handle. Use the splined drive coupler from the 6 sp and just let the little sos drive disengage handle flop.
I had one like that - was an 8 sp w/lpto.
Use this hyd pump and flanged lines.
I'm thinking you're wanting to swap because it might have diff lock and the other one doesnt?

Yes, the SOS rear ends do have a different ratio. SOS used 6.67:1, others used 6.166:1, so slower, but not greatly so.

I don't know what happened to it but it does look like a building fell on it.

I asked on the rear end because it have an extra 6 speed transmission. No hydraulic remote and no diff lock unfortunately. Pretty much bought and engine and some parts but I have enough of these blue machines that parts are always appreciated.
