1960 Select O Speed Manual?

Hello all,

I am new to the forum, and this is my first post! There seems to be a lot of great information on this site and I've been greedily gobbling up information. I have inherited my grandpa's 1960 671 with the Select O Speed Transmission. It's in remarkably good shape and is a great workhorse for around the farm, so I'd love to keep this thing running.

My question:

Mine is the earlier 1960 Select O Speed with the [b:13585be1fe]overrunning clutch[/b:13585be1fe]. I would like to buy a service manual for this transmission, but it appears that most of them are for the later direct-drive clutch models in the 2000 and 4000 series tractors. Does anyone know if the service manual listed on this site will cover my transmission?

The only separate S-O-S manual is the "supplemental" manual for the 2000/4000 series S-O-S transmission, which is the DDC version of the transmission which was also retrofitted into a number of earlier '01 tractors.

The original Ford service manual for the '01 series, as well as the I&T FO-20 aftermarket service manual, both cover the original ORC version of the S-O-S transmission.
 
If you are not sure if your trans is an ORC or DDC post the
numbers on the side of trans.
My '59 gold demo has a DDC trans that was switched out in the
exchange program in '65.

The numbers stamped on the front/upper part of transmission near the starter say:

671
112304

But that just leads me to the model and year of the tractor, I suppose.

The following raised numbers are located just behind the inching pedal and might be the transmission S/N?

312259 AO
CWC
*8279*
 

The Servic? manual from this site is very good and covers both versions of the SOS. I used it to get me through a complete overhaul. I learned
more about the SOS than I really wanted to know!
