Ford 4500 transmission swap?

Just curious, on my 4500 with the 4 speed/torque converter transmission. Could I swap in a 6x2, or a 8x2 transmission in it should the original transmission be too costly to repair. Would I need the rear end housing/ring, and pinion gears. Since it will spend the rest of its life on the farm the shuttle shift isn't really necessary for me.

If the tractor currently has no PTO and you don't care for one, then you should be able to just swap the transmission to a 6 or 8 speed. If you want to bring the PTO along as well, then it would be easier to use the rear end from the donor tractor along with the replacement transmission.

It has a backhoe so the pto is not needed. I still have finish rebuilding the engine, and run it on the test stand before going into the transmission. Going through it one section at a time, and trying to plan ahead on each section.

It can be done will need flywheel for 6 or 8 speed and clutch pedal. Shuttle has no pto. I have 2 4500 tlbs with 8 speeds and both have trans ptos.Making 1 out of 2.

Would you consider trading a 8x2 trans and pto setup for a 6x4 manual reverser or maybe sell the pto parts to go in my tractor.
I have a 69 4500 that came with the manual reverser and no pto, I stripped loader off as it was broken up pretty bad, didn't get the hoe with the tractor.
I've converted it to a quick attach Farm Hand loader and three point hitch for moving and feeding round bales of hay, it would be more useful if it had a pto.

I guess it depends on where your located, shipping would probably cost to much.
