74 5000 gas fuel pump leaks

The fuel pump on my 1974 5000 gasser was leaking fuel from the weep hole so I replaced it with a new unit from CNH. It started leaking from the diaphragm/gasket right away, so I took it out and retourqed the screws and it still leaked after putting it back in. Ordered an aftermarket unit that looks the same as the CNH unit and it leaks from the gasket after installing it too. I removed the generator and fan belt to get a good view of the pump while the tractor runs and it is definitely coming from the gasket. The fittings and steel lines are fine. A quick google search shows that some other people have had the same issue with new pumps. Has anyone put in a 12volt pump and bypassed the mechanical unit?

I've replaced a couple of pumps on gassers and never had a problem with them.
As to going to an electric pump it is easy.
My 4000 was running on gravity flow when i got it.
But it wouldnt make full power that way.
The lines had been cut so going back to original was going to take a bit of doing.
I had a small electric pump here and put that on.
Tank - pump - inline filter - carb.
Hooked the pump up off the key switch.
Boom. Done.
Works good and makes full power now.
I do have all the lines, etc to put it back to original so will, one of these days... or years.
