FORD 3000 only runs when its wet!

I have a 1970 3000 gas that has been giving me fits lately!! It has been starting fine all year, i parked it in the corner of the barn for a month then went to start it and it wouldnt even fire... didnt seem to be getting good spark so i cleaned up the points. still no luck. i then put in a brand new set of points, condenser, cap and rotor and still no change. finally i decided to pull start it and it started, ran fine. went to start it after it sat again, nothing. i left it outside in the rain twice and it started right up both times, but after it sits a day or two in the shop where its dry it will not even try to start, i just dont know what to do but i know its got to be something simple! just makes no sense why it would start and run great when its sitting out in the rain, but wont do anything inside where its dry? any ideas???

Bad connections that only make contact when wet?
Might be a stretch, but free to clean, inspect and tighten.

When it doesn't start I would put a volt meter on the + side of the coil and see what it's reading.
I would also do as Royse suggests and clean your connections from the key switch to the coil.
I use a 1/2" copper fitting brush to clean connections.

Trouble shoot before parts never the other way around.

#1 check the spark and make sure you have a good blue/white spark that jumps a 1/4 INCH GAP OR MORE TO THE COIL WIRE AND THE PLUG WIRES. weak spark try a hot wire from the battery ignition side to coil ignition side. If spark is good then you have bad switch or connection or wire. Throwing parts at it cause more problem then it fixes with out simple trouble shooting

once you eliminate spark, then you can CHECK FUEL.

If you eliminate both of those, and she runs fine with a pull start.. that eliminates timing.. that leaves compression.

post back.
